Dua Lipa (born 22 August 1995) is an English singer and songwriter known for her sleek pop sound, disco-inspired production, and commanding vocal presence. After working briefly as a model, she signed with Warner Bros. Records in 2014 and released her self-titled debut album in 2017. The project reached number three in the UK and yielded multiple hit singles including “Be the One,” “IDGAF,” and the chart-topping “New Rules,” earning her Brit Awards for British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act in 2018.
Her Calvin Harris collaboration “One Kiss” became the UK's best-selling single of 2018, followed by Grammy wins for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording for “Electricity” with Silk City in 2019. Lipa’s second album, Future Nostalgia (2020), marked a major commercial and critical breakthrough.
The record hit number one in the UK and produced a run of global hits including “Don’t Start Now,” “Physical,” “Break My Heart,” and “Levitating,” the latter becoming the Billboard Hot 100’s top song of 2021 and achieving RIAA Diamond certification. The album won Brit and Grammy Awards for Best Album and Best Pop Vocal Album, respectively.
Lipa continued her chart success with the Elton John duet “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” and “Dance the Night” from the Barbie (2023) soundtrack, which also featured her acting debut. In 2024 she released her third studio album, Radical Optimism, which entered atop the UK Albums Chart and included the singles “Houdini,” “Training Season,” and “Illusion.” That same year, she appeared in the spy film Argylle in a supporting role. Across her career, Lipa has earned multiple Brit Awards and three Grammy Awards, becoming one of the defining pop artists of the 2020s.
