Natalie Jane Imbruglia; born 4 February 1975) is an Australian–British singer and actress. Born and raised in New South Wales, she first gained public attention in the early 1990s for her role as Beth Brennan on the Australian soap opera Neighbours.

After leaving the series, Imbruglia relocated to the United Kingdom to pursue a music career. She achieved international success in 1997 with her debut single “Torn,” a cover of the Ednaswap song, which became one of the most enduring pop hits of the decade. The song topped the US Billboard Radio Songs chart for eleven weeks in 1998 and was later named among Rolling Stone’s 50 Best Songs of the 1990s. Her debut album, Left of the Middle (1997), was a global commercial success, earning multi-platinum certifications in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, and selling more than seven million copies worldwide.

Imbruglia followed with albums including White Lilies Island (2001) and Counting Down the Days (2005). While these releases marked a decline in commercial momentum, both achieved gold certification in the UK. As of 2021, she has released six studio albums and sold over ten million album-equivalent units worldwide.

In addition to music, Imbruglia has maintained an acting career, appearing in films such as Johnny English (2003) and the Australian independent drama Closed for Winter (2009). She has also worked as a model and brand ambassador for companies including L’Oréal, Gap, and Kailis. Beyond entertainment, she is known for her philanthropic work, notably serving as a longtime spokesperson for Virgin Unite and supporting campaigns to raise awareness of obstetric fistula.
